In order to take our students far, the staff and Board of Directors have made a commitment to work together.
We’d like to introduce you to the We the People Team.
Staff
The founding board members and staff of We the People reflect the diversity of the student body we serve. Together, we have experience in politics, finance, lobbying, facilities, special education, and higher education. We share a commitment to empowering the next generation to ensure the future health and prosperity of our city, our region, and our world.

Anita Ravi
Founder, Executive Director, Principal
Anita is a history teacher and school district leader with over 20 years of experience working in urban public schooling. Her work is based on a core belief in effort-based education for ALL students, with an emphasis on equity and access.

Patrick Cuaresma
Civics, Big History
Patrick’s interest in education began in elementary school when he had to write what he wanted to be in his school’s yearbook. Ever since then, he decided to pursue his dream of teaching. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science…

Yvonnia Fletcher
Counselor
Yvonnia’s passion for education began in high school when she took a peer counseling course that involved learning about her peer’s struggles. Growing up in a low-income area she always knew she wanted to help others reach their goals. This also contributed to her devotion to help bring to light issues of equity and helping students overcome educational inequality.

Ryan Oxford
Film & Media Studies
Ryan is a highly creative individual who has spent 25 years in various innovative industries as both a content creator and entrepreneur. He has thrived in the Hollywood ecosystem having written and produced multiple television and film projects…

Angel Alcantar
English
Angel is a Los Angeles native. He graduated from Whittier College with a B.A. in English and a minor in French. While studying at Whittier College, he branched out to also study various scientific disciplines in search of new knowledge or inspiration for new pathways in an ever-changing world.

Daniel Munoz
Integrated Science
Daniel attended UC Riverside and earned his Bachelor of Science in Cell, Molecular, & Developmental Biology in 2020. Outside of class, he became involved in the Chicano Student Program which helped him tear down his insecurity of his cultural background.

Irai Garcia
Integrated Math
Irai received a math degree from UC Riverside where she then decided to pursue teaching. She knew that she wanted to pursue education because she likes to work with students. She enjoys building relationships with students so that they can learn to love math and challenge themselves more.

Adam Calleja
Special Education
Before Adam pursued education, he was writing stories for DIG Magazine at Long Beach State where he would go on to receive a BA in Journalism. During his last year of undergrad, he accepted a position as a basketball coach at Pioneer High School in his hometown of Whittier.

Lesle Vallejo
Office Clerk
Lesle graduated from Cal State LA with her bachelor of arts degree in Sociology. She has been working in the education field for more than 5 years in various roles such as an after school program leader and paraprofessional roles in the English Learner and Special Education programs.
